Wait Staff Job Description
REPORTS TO:
Dining Room Manager & Assistant Managers
JOB
SUMMARY: Sets dining areas, serves
drinks and food to club members and guests according to Nakoma Golf Club rules
of etiquette. Performs various duties to ensure excellent service and proper
operating procedure of the Club.
WORK PERFORMED (Includes but is not limited to):
1. Must be able to accomplish prep work according to list, daily
reservation and functions.
2. Check daily reservations and function sheets at each shift.
3. Check assigned dining area to ensure area is correctly set up for
service.
4. Sets Dining area for general service and special functions.
5. Receives special instruction from hostess/manager regarding daily
specials and additions or deletions to the menu; receives instructions on
functions/parties.
6. Acknowledges table with appropriate greeting, by name if a member,
takes cocktail order and recites daily specials within 3 minutes of time
they are seated.
7. Is assigned to special function - responsibilities include prep work, cocktails, serving food with correct procedure, serving wine, clearing of
dishes , offering coffee, watering/re-watering of tables, resetting of room
and closing duties.
8. Relays cocktail order to bar with correct procedure and delivers drink
to table in timely fashion.
9. Takes food order at table, answers any questions member/guest might
have about menu or specials.
10. Writes food order down with correct procedure and delivers it to
correct kitchen personnel.
11. Be able to pick up main entree from kitchen and serve food to table
using correct procedure within 30 minutes of when order is taken.
12. Checks frequently with table to ensure excellence in food and
service, re-waters, coffee, deals with special requests of member during
dining.
13. Properly removes soiled dishes.
14. Must be able to recite and offer dessert and after dinner drink,
takes order and serves using correct procedure.
15. Present check to member/guest when they finish dining and is
responsible for getting member to sign before leaving Club.
16. Completes assigned closing duties, setting up of dining room and
special instructions from manager.
17. Perform housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping,
moping and general cleaning.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be able to wait on 12 people at one time.
2. Must be able to carry tray in one hand, 8-10 drinks on a cocktail tray and
be able to serve drink with the other hand.
3. Must be able to carry tray with 8 meals on it weighing approximately 40
pounds.
4. Must be able to be on your feet for entire shift from 4 to 8 hours with
one ½ hour break or two 15 minute breaks.
5. Must be able to carry dining chairs and tables weighing approximately 40
pounds.
6. Reading and writing skills required.
7. Must be able to clearly interact verbally with members and guests.
8. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and wipe.
9. Should be familiar with American and foreign dishes.
10. Should be familiar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
11. Should have outgoing and friendly personality and able to be patient and
courteous with members/guests and other co-workers.
12. Must complete Nakoma Golf Club orientation and training system.
13. Must know proper method of serving cocktail and meals after training.
14. Must be able to accomplish other duties as assigned by manager.
15. Must have professional appearance and grooming, and follow dress code
according to manual.
16. Must learn members name and use them in greeting members.
JOB COMBINATIONS: The duties of this job may be included with those of a
server assistant or hostess as instructed by supervisor.
